ISO / IEC  19770 Series of SAM Standards

The importance of Software Asset Management (SAM) is relevant from the fact that ISO standards are developed and published for Software Asset Management (SAM). Two of the key components to successful SAM implementations are (1.Processes and 2. Identification of Software) are addressed by ISO-19770-1 (Processes) and ISO 19770-2 (Software Identification tag). ISO/IEC 19770-2:2009 :: Information technology — Software asset management — Part 2: Software identification tag – ISO/IEC 19770-2:2009 establishes specifications for tagging software to optimize its identification and management. ISO / IEC 19770-2

ISO/IEC CD 19770-3 :: Information technology — Software asset management — Part 3: Software entitlement tag (Under Development) – ISO/IEC 19770-3 focuses on capturing and defining the information necessary to describe how software may be used, known as the entitlement.
